NTU future hall of famer AWESOME Kiat insists he will not only return to his best after his cruciate knee ligament surgery but believes his career will be extended by the operation.
The 24-year-old Ex- RJC Rugger is aiming for a return to action in December after renowned Singapore-based surgeon Dr XXX repaired the joint damaged in SGH.
"I want to be back to what I've been for the last 10 years."he told the NTUdaily Mirror.
"Twenty years ago if you had this injury you were finished, but now it's a 99% success rate. Obviously I want this right for the rest of my career and that is the most important thing. But the plus side is that with the extra strength the operation will give me, I could get another couple of years added to the end of my career."
AWESOME hopes to be back in action for NTU inside 12 weeks as he begins his rehabilitation from the torn ACL he suffered against SRC.
"I never had an injury like it, I have never hardly been injured in my career. This is my first injury I just know I have hard training coming my way and I have got to get my knee as fit as soon as possible."
He added: " I was looking at my leg and then the pain came on and it was all a bit of a shock to be honest, a bit of a blur. It was not a good feeling."
"I knew it was a bad injury. It is just one of those things and I have got to get on with it and get as fit as quick as possible and get well."
AWESOME said: "What I can remember of it is that I gave a short step away and then ASH came through and I buckled. The full force of my weight on my right knee and my right knee gave way on me really."
"I don't blame ASH at all. He is a good friend of mine and I don't blame him one little bit."
AWESOME is now back at home resting. Rebel Rong was seen helping AWESOME practising some tackling drills. Photo evidence suggests that AWESOME might come back even earlier than expected.
Despite the pain from the OPT, AWESOME was able to pull off the unexpected. That is, an AWESOME handoff the the Singapore no. 1 Prop. What a character. After witnessing this magnificent feat, i have got 1 word to say...
AWESOME!
