{Monday, July 31, 2006 . e-rugby: Amos snubs NTU for SMU}

Amos Seow was due to sign for NTU this july but made a last min U-turn and sign for SMU. Reason for this shocking move was undisclosed.

Amos was spotted in NTU medical accompanied by ex NTU capt KING Thiam early june. A transfer was almost certain after his medical check up.

Amos is a talented winger, represented spore a couple of times. He was awarded the "Most Promising Player" in 2005.

"I love NTU. I love playing with some of the guys there, like AWESOME Kiat and Undroppable Qing... however... its a tough decision... i'm sad to leave... but i wish you guys all the best in the upcoming IVP season." - said by a visually distraught amos...

e-rugby managed to interviewed several players regarding this news...

"huh? when?" -bryanboy YIK (as usual... clueless about everything... )

"wat a waste... i would hate to hurt him... but i will.." -an angry memeber of the team who refused to be named.

"HONG GAN LAR.... "- a bystander who happens to walk pass the news room... (i dun think he knows who is amos.. but WTH)

{Sunday, July 30, 2006 . e-rugby: NTU set for a double swoop}

NTU are expected to have completed deals for Spore Capt RONG JINGXIANG and Spore's biggest biceps man MARK LEE by the end of the year.

A joint statement late on Friday read: "NTU and RONG can confirm that they have discussed a possible move."

RONG JINGXIANG (aka RONGY) is known to be a big fan of NTU, constantly keeping himself updated with the lastest and juiciest news from NTU blog. RONGY expressed his interest shortly hearing that his brother signed a 2 yr deal with team NTU. Would the brothers be playing together in the IVP next season??

'If NTU want me then that is marvellous. I have always said what a huge team it is and it would be an honour to play for them. Let's see what happens... *fingers crossed' said RONGY

"Even though RONGY is a good player, but we are not lacking any players of his position. We are currently satisfied with the Squad... so... we'll have to wait and see.." -unknown source from NTU

MARK LEE (aka Mr. Biceps) is currently chased by both NTU and NUS... who will he sign with?? Mr. B should favor a move to NTU to link up with his club mates from Bedok Kings.. Arjun 'show it' pandey, AWESOME Kiat, Undroppable Qing, Adam 'Mat solo' Chan, Rebel RONG and KING Thiam.

"well.. i'm keeping my options open... at this point in time.. my mind is not set yet... " - Mr. B

A gloomy Saturday afternoon with showers expected in many areas of Singapore.
Our e-rugby correspondents were despatch to cover all 3 Bedok King matches played in Yio Chu Kang Stadium. We finally managed to catch our first kick-off of the season, but this time from the carpark outside the stadium. (Our correspondents were once again late due the heavy rain.)

The first match featuring our own NTU player, Adam "Mat Solo" Chan was a Division 2 fixture clash between Bedok Kings and Northern Knights. With both sides fielding most of their clubs' youth, it was a pretty even competition. Adam was seen trying to dazzled his way through the opposition defence which at some point looked as though he ran up, "handed off" the opponent and then rolled the ball backwards through his legs. Was he confuse or was that his natural instinct?? He was moved back to his original Flyhalf position where he displayed a series AWESOME territorial kicks, trying to lead his team back in contention. The match ended with Knights walking away with a 4-2 tries win over a disppointed Kings team.

The second match of the day saw 3 NTU players getting the nod to start, Arjun "Show It" Pandey, AWESOME Kiat and Undroppable Qing. The Kings were looking to snatch a victory over rivals SCC. With the Kings pinned in their own half for most of the game, there was not much to cover. The only highlights were NTU almost lost AWESOME Kiat after he was give a hospital pass from a fellow fullback which saw him receive 2 flying tackles at the same time. Another highlight was Arjun "Show It" Pandey showed it again! His jumps in the lineouts were unstoppable, winning every single one of them. When interviewed by our correspondents, he replied
"I won 99.9% of our lineouts whenever i jumped"
That left the reporters in puzzlement wondering where did the other 0.1% go...

Lastly the highlight of the day,the Premier League clash between Bedok Kings and SCC. The NTU players involved were Daniel "Potato" Thiam and Superman Li Rencong. Thiam started the match as in-center, but was unable to bang his way through a resilient SCC defence. He was then moved back to Flyhalf position where he displayed a record number of "birdy" (hokkien: niao niao) kicks. Could it be the presence of the NTU selectors that affected his performance? (Yes! They were there too) It was surprisingly effective against the opponent's fullback. Then Potato Thiam once again showed his oscars winning performance by going down in "pain" after a late tackle. Late in the game, Thiam taunted the opposition with a "woooohoooo" after every sidestep he took. The good impression did not last long as he made a pass, sending his blind winger into 3 waiting tacklers.

Superman on the other hand was unable to help his team pass the excellent backline defense. Due to some poor passing in his team, he was unable to 'take flight'.

"It was a good game... thiam should be fortunate that he didnt run straight into me...haha.. well... can't talk for long... gotta go chionging now... " said Li

The overall performance by the NTU boys pleased the NTU selectors and coach. But was it pure coincidence or a hot competition in the making that all 3 matches played started with NTU players as the inside center?

When approached, Coach Tan's only comment was "The positions are still very much open, nothing is confirmed yet, besides, i might make a couple more new signings before the transfer market closes..."

But what's more worrying to the NTU selectors was that former NTU captain, star flyhalf/center, Daniel "Potato" Thiam was caught in what seems to be like a skimpy white dress and flaunting it in front of new signing, Rebel Prop Rong.

e-rugby apologises for being unable to bring you the results and coverage of the other game between SRC and Bucks which our correspondents conveniently forgot that NTU star prop, Storm Normy will be playing in that fixture.

{Friday, July 28, 2006 . Rugby-Net: "NTU No. 14 is mine" says Aminurashid}

Reporters from Rugby-net were on their way to SPE to cover a NRC Div 2 match featuring past and present NTU players Aminurashid, Emery and Cliff. Despite the heavy downpour, the crowd could be heard cheering and stamping even 2 traffic lights before the stadium. Yes, our reporters were once again late.

Cliff and Aminurashid started the game for SRC against a youthful Blacks Team. Emery was missing from the stadium. According to our roving helicopter, he was spotted at NTU sports camp, swinging water bombs at girls, completely oblivious about the rugby match that he was supposed to be in. Looks like his passion for rugby is indeed waning.

Play was scrappy as both sides struggled to get used to the slippery ball. Aminurashid certainly lived up to his nick as "the guy who runs faster than people can say his name" as he showed AWESOME hands and speed, constantly a thorn in the flesh burning down the wings. His performance was certainly not missed by the NTU selectors who were overheard gushing over his every move. (Yes they were there too)

The half ended in a boring 3-3 draw, with the only other highlight coming from veteran Cliff, who put on a fantastic performance mooning the crowd with many jiggles when his name was chanted. This was in contrast of his match performance where he was spotted motionless in at least 5 instances for up to 3mins each time......NEXT TO THE WINGER.

In the 2nd half, Aminurashid continued his fine form with a good catch under pressure and seems to beat his opposite wingers at will. He even topped all this with an AWESOME display of raw speed by scoring his 2nd SRC try in as many matches at the corner of the try area. By then, the match was swinging towards SRC's favour and veteran Cliff even made a surging forward run towards the line, only for the ball to bounce off his jiggling jugs, much to the relief of the opposition. That was also his last involvement in the match, as he was substituted due to yet another motionless display at the wing.

Cliff was delirious after his first game in many months, with many jibberish attempts at speaking when reporters interviewed him. The only signs of response was when food, tulang, stingray were mentioned. On top of this, Rugby-net is releasing an exclusive conversation with his teammates.

"Are you all free on friday??Organise a barbeque I will surely come back to school...but I need someone to collect my Graduation certificate as school is too inconvenient for me. So how about the Friday BBQ??EYYY Friday leyyy...on boh" - veteran Cliff

The post match press conference saw Rugby-net reporters interviewing Aminurashid about his Man of the Match performance after yet another scintillating display of attacking rugby.

" As I said earlier, its quite a numb feeling as it has been years since I last scored a competitive try. As now I have finally broken the duck and established myself, it is time to make the NTU Number 14 slot my very own." A very confident Aminurashid replied.

This performance certainly sends a clear message out to the rest of the NTU wingers, Prakarsa, Qing, Emery and Zhongming to watch out. The last Rugby-net heard, Qing is already contemplating a move back into the In-centre position to avoid a head-on clash with the hottest rugby prospect in Boon Lay. Elsewhere, Prakarsa is said to be hiding in an unknown cave in Bali with Osama, Zhongming is staking outside Kee's office waiting for a reimbursement of his $200, and Emery still desperately filling up more water bombs to swing.

The pick of the crop sees Superman Li Rencong pitting his pace against the strength of Daniel "Potato" Thiam's new found 86kg frame.

Superman Cong has had a mesmerizing performance in his first match against the Wanderers and he will look to maintain his fine form in this upcoming fixture.

Thiam, on the other hand, having survived a recent onslaught from ex Queensland Reds and current Bucks flyhalf, is determined to dazzle as a playmaker in the inside centre position.

Arjun "Show it" Pandey will lead the Bedok forward pack against the SCC Div 1 forwards. Having named as the pack leader and vice captain of the team, he will do whatever it takes to "show it".

When interviewed, Arjun has this to say, "I only come for one training, and I'm already the vice captain. If I come down for more training, I'll be the head coach!"

Undroppable Qing will string up the midfield plays as the starting inside centre for the Bedok Div 1 side while Awesome Kiat will try to cement his position as a make shift outside centre.

Elsewhere, Adam "Mat Solo" Chan, will look to impress as he continues to press for the competition for the NTU Flyhalf position against lynchpin King Thiam. His recent performances as the Bedok Div 2 flyhalf has attracted a great deal of attention from the NTU SELECTORS and put immense pressure on King Thiam. It is no wonder he has reverted back to the inside centre.

Speedsters Emery and Aminurashid aka Ash will continue scorching down the wings for SRC Div 2. It is rumoured that they can run faster than you can say their name.

Meanwhile, NTU Rugby alumni Saint Cliffy will look to eat his way into the good books of SRC head coach, while Stormy Normy is hoping to shake off his knee injury (sneakily caused by Qing during a harmless touch rugby session) and lead the SRC team (mostly NUS players, yes mostly) to their first win of the season.

"Bryanboy" Yik has forsaken division 1 to stay tight with his friends from the 'inner circle'. He was last heard quoting, "Can Arjun be the girl? I dont mind being the guy in the relationship.. *giggles* .." Totally unrelated to the weekend's frenzy of matches but WTH.

Rebellious Prop RONG JINGXING finally completed his dream move to NTU on a 2-year contract after a 2 years hiatus.

'I want to feel important again. Last season was very difficult for me but now I am keen to give my all for NTU,' RONG told the e-rugby reporters.

In his 5 seasons with Bedok Kings he won two league titles and the Spore Cup in 2005.

NTU were finally given the green light to allow the 29-year-old to start his NTU career, delayed after the player had an initial application last summer rejected and then an appeal later in the year turned down.

Kee said: 'This is very good news for us and I am absolutely delighted to welcome RONG to NTU as he is a player the supporters will like to see and the opponents will not like to see."

'His technical ability is fantastic and he has a great strength and provides the team with a lot of options. He has a really good mentality and he is a winner.' said KING THIAM

He is the latest in a string of signings by NTU who have already bought starlet TZE, Malcolm (???) and kevin ang (TZE's roommate).

Weeks of transfer speculation surrounding the appointment of NTU Rugby's Head Coach 2007 has finally been settled, with Lincoln Tan leading the race as favourite to seal the most coveted job in the rugby community, beating the likes of World Cup winner 2003 Clive Woodward and All Blacks coach Graham Henry. NTU old boy Tan Lian Teck (aka Ah Lian) has been eliminated from the race due to his heavy work commitments and inexperience.

With Gene Tong already having left the post for a rumoured venture into the Local Political scene with his brother, all is set for Lincoln to take over the helm and bring NTU into a new dimension.

When contacted, NTU manager Adrian Kee confirmed that the signing on fee for Coach Tan has been agreed for an undisclosed amount, now set to discuss personal terms. The deal will be complete pending medical.

" Coach Tan comes with a wealth of experience and is highly recommended. The board is delighted to have him" says Kee

Sources report that NTU is currently trying to tied down the contract of veteran coach LINCOLN TAN. Negiotiations are currently on the way. Lincoln Tan has a fantastic track record... winning countless trophies with ACS and ACJC as a player and a coach... he has groomed many talents such as ARJUN, THAI HO, JED, DANIEL HUANG...

Ever since the departure former coach GENE TONG ( unable to continue due to work commitments), the head coach position has been link to many possibilities like CLIVE WOODWARD, GRAHAM HENRY and NTU old boy TAN LIAN TECK (aka AH LIAN).

"of course there is a risk in the deal, but theres a risk in every transfer. i see this as a new challenge... something refreshing. with the bulk of talents available to me... i can see no reason how i can turn down the offer. but in life... you will never know..." said TAN

Official NTU Rugby News latest update - SRC President steps out to make a public statement
"What happened today in the training ground was really unfortunate. Rumours claiming a training ground bust up with a fellow teammate was totally untrue. SRC is also keen to distance ourselves from any transfers regarding Daniel. As far as we know, Daniel is very happy at the club and has a few more years on his contract. He is also very much in the coach's plans. As I talk, Daniel is wrapped up in cotton wool soaking in the hot cold pool with what seems like a cherry stalk sticking out of his mouth. We wish him a speedy recovery. In fact, when he recovers, its like SRC has made 2 new signings.
I take the Bedok King rumour in my stride and attribute their interest in Daniel to jealousy in our recent successes in the rugby community."

Official NTU Rugby Newsletter has to once again step in to quash all recent irresponsible publishings by midnight tabloid E-Rugby News. Star Daniel was indeed injured during training by an NUS fellow, but it was in eagerness to establish NTU's standing within the SRC team.
Accurate sources reported that Stormy Normy was on hand all the time with Star Daniel, rendering him every help possible till the ambulance came. Fellow NTU rugger King followed that up with an insincere and unwilling phone call to send his 'well wishes'. As to why King was at MS spotting Daniel instead of rushing to the hospital, it is all still a mystery.
Newest updates from the hospital: Daniel Huang is receiving his stitches and being fed grapes from the bunches by a mysterious female with long flowing locks. Despite his obvious pleasure at such VIP treatment, Daniel let out a long sigh when interviewed....
" I tried to bring everyone in NTU together into SRC to improve, but I guess my efforts were all in vain. Hiding behind huge Ang Mohs in Bedok King still has its appeal i guess..."
These were all he had to say as he popped another grape. Is the cherry coming up next? Stay tuned while the news is hot.

On a totally unrelated incident, our on site reporter spotted NTU Alumnus Uncle Cliffy back in training looking fitter, sharper and bigger....well maybe just bigger...and certainly rounder

Injuries:

NTU star centre/flanker daniel huang was busted open in SRC training... apparently... a fellow teammate kneed him at the side of his head and busted him wide open... 6 stitches were required... rumors has it that the teammate that 'accidentally' kneed him is from NUS... coincidence? several NTU teammates from Bedok KINGS called and wished him well after his surgery... surprisingly... no well-wishes from his SRC mates... internal conflict? or a mid-season transfer to B.K in the making?
