In recent events, Dota-tilitis, a virus spawned from the famous Warcraft 3 expansion -Frozen Throne, Defence of The Ancients (aka DOTA) has caused several problems for the Rugby community here in Nanyang Avenue.

The disease was first discovered back in Sept 2005 when Bryanboy Yik was found sitting in front of his computer, clicking and giggling for a straight 24hrs, completely unaware of what was going on around him. It was first thought to be a small case of Influenza (aka common flu), however the in-house doctors diagnosed it to be an isolated case of Dota-tilitis.

Dota-tilitis had a big impact on NTU rugby last season where infected players were unable to focus on training and during matches, and that is if they even manage to leave their computers and make it for rugby. Teammates were often called upon to provide support to those who were infected and hoping that something miraculous would happen. Unfortunately, more got infected.

In the past few months, doctors were very encouraged when they thought that they defeated the infectious disease by restricting its spread to a few of the players who had close contacts with Bryanboy Yik, namely Jason Law and Daniel Huang. Few days ago, the virus hit back with what is believed to be a stronger mutated strain of the Dota-tilitis, - Dota-tilitis v.2. It took the infected toll to a devastating 12. These include new signings - Starlets Tze and Kevin.

"It is spreading like an epidemic! Many of our boys got infected and the doctors have confirmed that what they got is the new strain. Its crazy! Now they dont only play DOTA but Tower Defence too." said a close friend of the wing who refused to disclose his identity.

Local Rugby Authorities will be holding a summit with Blizzard (makers of Warcraft), the NTU rugby coaching and medical staff this coming weekend to come up with a verdict for the fate of the game, DOTA and also a decision to suspend the players and send them away for treatment will be made.

Meanwhile, NTU rugby players and fans are petitioning for the ban on DOTA and also the players who are infected to be dropped from the squad with immediate effect so as to protect the other healthy players. If successful, a bill will be passed and DOTA will officially be banned. Players who are caught with the game will be fined and suspended.

Doctors are also trying everything possible to find a cure for these infected players.
"We had a breakthrough discovery, we found out that the virus actually resides in the body of Yik and we believe that would also be the most probable place where the virus mutated. Now the method that seems to have the best chance is for them to undergo "cold turkey" treatment, although we had several unsuccessful experiments with Yik, we think we have a better chance of curing those who just got infected recently. " said team doctor, Dr. S.

"We can only pray for those who are infected to get well soon. I really want to see them back on the team, training with us. Many of them are key players for us. It will be a pity to lose them for the season. " said a teammate
