{Wednesday, August 02, 2006 . Rugby-Net: NTU Enthuses Over New Exchange Student}

After missing out on getting exchange students (French speedster Charlie in 2004 and Danish juggernaut Mike Steggers in 2005) to don coveted school colours, the NTU SELECTORS have yet again another opportunity to work their magic on our new exchange student, David, who hails from Scotland. It’s not the David in ‘David and Goliath’, mind you. This time round, it’s rumoured to be David THE Goliath.

Rugby-Net correspondents managed to catch a quick text message interview with David and he was kind enough to make a quick introduction, “I play 2nd row, usually No.4. I would also play No.8 at times. Played high school level from aged 12, won North of Scotland Cup, and played for Highland RFC for 2 years. One of the main highlights was the fact we never lost a single home game in the 2004 season. Unfortunately, I have been taking a break since and haven’t played for about a year. Been really busy with all my work.”

When asked about his most recent interesting ‘misadventure’, he mentioned, “Well, I have been shopping for boots for quite a while now, but I can’t seem to find any that fits. I’m kinda like a big guy, you know. Things in this country all seem so small.. LOL.”

And that probably gives us a pretty good gauge on his physique and size.

Media rivals e-rugby contacted Highland RFC head coach, Brian Irvine, and he had this to say, “I can clearly remember him as being hugely athletic and obviously he brings explosiveness to the game. He has an ability to carry the ball and he’s a very intimidating defender, a vigorous competitor at breakdowns. He simply enjoys the contact area.”

The NTU SELECTORS will be eager to meet David in the near future.
